Home Is Where the Heart Is

Grandbabies are sleeping and I am finally taking a few minutes away from packing to sit with a cup of coffee and look through this magazine.
It is one of the magazines that my sweet friend Gail @Victorian at Heart included in her generous giveaway that I won.
As I picked it up and read the title Somerset HOME, I was reminded of something Mr. SS has asked me every time we have moved (I am counting and don't have enough fingers and toes because the count is over 20) " Can you make this home? To which I always answer "Honey, I can make any place home."
Back to the magazine. I opened up to this page:
written by Kristen Robinson.
I am quoting from the last paragraph, words that could have come from my heart.
"For me the road to home is never farther than that which lies within our hearts.  During our life journey we carry this very special and sacred place with us each and every day. May your homes be your haven, a place of ...joy and perhaps above all a safe haven full of love."

As we are packing to leave this house behind soon, I have peace in my heart that we are taking our home with us.

Here are a few quotes that Kristen used in this article, along with the cutest little cards she made to illustrate these meaningful words.
"Home is where we fly to our deams each day" Author Unknown
"There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort" Jane Austin
"Where we love is home, home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts"
Oliver Wendel Holmes
and
my favorite

Packing it Up??

Well, I should be, but in between packing boxes to store, boxes to take, boxes to go to Good Will (after all, where would we shop if someone didn't donate, right?) I have been sewing. You knew that about me didn't you?
This week I made a diaper bag for a sweet, first time Mom who had her baby boy about 2 weeks ago.
She just might be needing this, so I just needed had to sew it  for her.

While I was in Strawberry Patches yesterday to get some more stabilizer for the bag, I got two yards of
this
Now, wouldn't you say with my new adventure, I needed to have the cutest little trailer fabric ever.
Can't start on that yet. Focus...Focus. Packing?? I don't think so.
Next week, my grandaughter Kobi who is in a Christmas Play needs to have this done for pictures.
Okay, now, I am really off to pack babysit at my DIL's. Can't have them over here, because I am "packing" right?  Well if you happen to run into Mr. SS. Be sure to tell him I am packing.

Seriously, before I go, I want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. It really has meant alot to me.  We really are doing great with this and feel so blessed.  With God's help and the support of family and friends, we know this is what He wanted for us.  We feel so at peace and can say "Thank you Lord for your blessings."

All That's Left

We lined up tables filled with it, spread it on the ground, surrounded a large tree with full boxes filled with it, put it on plywood tables made with sawhorses, leaned it against buildings, leaned it against fences.  The 10x10x5 pile you see above is all that is left of it...our "stuff".
Saturday and Sunday, we had our garage sale and everything went that had not been spoken for by family and friends. We are having a local church pick up the pile you see above
Maybe you have picked up on a couple of hints I have slipped in some recent posts. We are moving. We like to say we are becoming permanent RV'rs.
Two years ago, this month, we knew we would be making changes. We have had a family construction business for over 25 yrs. and have weathered many ups and downs in the economy. But this time  it is different and change we must.
Mr. SS has been working off and on out of town for over a year.
Our family is here, so we will set up our fifth wheel on my son's property. We also have a motor home that my husband and son have been staying in while working out of town. I will continue to go with him when I can.
Our house sold very quickly because it was a "short" sale.  Without going into a lot of detail, just let me say that even though we basically gave it away, we are feeling really good about the whole thing.
We didn't rush into this and prayed for  a long time before making this decision.
The Lord has laid plans out for us every step of our married life and we have faith this is no different.
We are trusting in him to turn this to the good for our family.
I still have pictures of my little girls room and will get it on Pink Saturday soon. Also still have my red bathroom to show you.
I am already working on a place to sew and to store all the "stuff" I need for that in both our "mobil homes" and  I'm looking forward to more time to spend with my grandkids.
Today, I am working on making the coolest diaper bag and in between packing spurts, I have a costume to make for my granddaughter for a play.

Sweet Blog Friends

This must be my week.  Monday, a knock on the door and I received a visit from a friend and a fantastic giveaway win.
Today, I go to my mailbox and find this package with the cutest Thanksgiving panel.
One large panel in the middle with little squares surrounding it.
Sweet Potatoe Pie by Moda
So Cute!!
Then there was this one with Scriptures written all over it . Its called Table Graces.
She wrote me a warm sweet note on this.

Isn't that just the cutest note paper and envelope you have ever seen. Renee from Sewn with Grace
sent this to me. Thank you Renee. I love it. You can bet somethng made from this gift will grace my Thanksgiving table next year.

I am so blessed with the bestest friends, both here in my life and in my blogging life.

It has been a busy week and it's only going to get busier.
We have had 3 family birthdays and I did a craft faire at the local University.
I am having a garage sale on Saturday and Sunday, so with the help of family and friends, I have been madly going through the house and pricing to sell. I am long overdue for going through things and getting rid of all the "stuff" I can live without. It really is a good feeling.

I haven't been able to visit all of my favorite blogs much lately, but promise to get back to everyone soon.
Thanks again, Gail and Renee. You both really made my week special.

I won!!! Again

Tuesday...a knock on the door
"Congratulations, you are the winner"
I felt like I had just won the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes.
My friend Gail at Victorian At Heart with her beautiful one year Blogaversary giveaway was at my front door. Not far behind was her hubby with camera pointed at...no make-up, no hair do, work around house clothes... embarrased ME.
I'm not even going to show those pictures here, because my "sweet" friend already posted them. Oh my!!
I borrowed this picture from Gail's blog.
A bouquet of ballons was attached to a tote bag full of goodies.
The tote bag has her blog banner picture one it.
A fall bouquet with the greatest "Gail" bow.
A decorating book she said she showed when she first started blogging.
Another beautiful book all about lace.

A mouse pad with Gail's banner picture on it.
Two magazines that I have really been wanting to buy for myself.

A carved pumpkin, candle, coffee cup, Fall hankie, a gorgous big tassle, and a Rachel Ashwell
book, especially collectible, because we just saw her earlier this month.

Can you believe this giveaway? I am just embarrassed, because this is the 3rd one I have won since I started blogging a year ago.
And this one ain't over yet...

Thank you, Gail, my friend of 35 yrs. Even though it has been many years since we have been neighbors, God has blessed me by keeping you in my life.

Be sure to visit Gail@ Victorian at Heart  (click here or on her button on my sidebar), tell her thank you for me.
You will enjoy her blog and her style.
